Our Board of Directors

Friends Life Care is a nonprofit 501(c)3 charitable organization governed by a board of directors. The Friends System board includes up to 13 individuals, the majority of whom must be members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). These board members, and the boards of Friends’ subsidiaries, are appointed at an annual meeting. Additionally, the board of directors may occasionally appoint one or more emeritus directors.

Carol A. Barbour, MBA

Carol A. Barbour, MBA
President

Carol Barbour serves as President of the Friends Life Care System and its subsidiary corporations: Friends Life Care in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, and Intervention Associates, a care management and home-health-care company. Previously, Carol served for five years as Vice President of Project Management at FRC Management, Inc., the firm responsible for much of the development of the original Friends Life Care plan. Carol was named President of Friends Life Care in 1991.

Before joining FRC Management, Carol held several positions at Mid-Atlantic Nursing Home Corporation, including Vice President for Planning and Budgeting, Assistant Vice President for Operations, and Operations Manager. Carol supervised the daily operations of the company’s nursing home facilities in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey region — a total of 860 beds.

Carol earned a Master of Business Administration in health administration from Temple University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in music therapy and worked for several years as a music therapist early in her career. She is a regular speaker at national professional associations on the subject of continuing care at home and has been featured in local and national media.

Carol practices yoga and participates in weight training to meet her personal fitness goals. She is a graduate of The Habit Change Company’s comprehensive Vitality Improvement Program.

Elise Lamarra, RN, BSN

Vice President of Clinical Operations

Elise Lamarra joined Friends Life Care in March 2007 to lead the Care Coordination Department. She was promoted to Vice President of Clinical Operations in 2009. In her new position, Elise additionally oversees and coordinates the Friends Life Care Admissions Department and service provider network, along with the non-medical home-care division of Intervention Associates, a Friends Life Care subsidiary.

Elise has more than 25 years of clinical, administrative and managerial experience in acute care, home health care, hospice care and managed care. For the last 20 years, she has devoted her career to home care and hospice work. For 14 of those years, she has held executive positions. Elise is a member of the Pennsylvania Home Care Association and serves on its marketing committee.

A dedicated athlete, Elise runs competitively, engages in interval training and plays tennis. She is a graduate of The Habit Change Company’s comprehensive Vitality Improvement Program.

Catherine Raines, RN

Amy F. Josef
Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Amy Josef joined Friends Life Care in October 2009. In her position as Vice President of Sales and Marketing, she cultivates new plan memberships, develops and executes the marketing strategy, and coordinates all communications to the public.

Amy has more than 20 years of experience. She began her career with Xerox Corporation, participating in the company’s prestigious sales training program. Over 12 years, Amy’s achievements in strategic selling and customer retention enabled her promotion through the ranks at Xerox. Subsequently, she held a variety of marketing and sales leadership positions in the document management and commercial security industries.

Amy brings a fresh perspective to Friends Life Care. She has extensive experience maintaining customer relationships and implementing marketing strategies through a variety of media, including Web-based communications, direct mail and seminars. Amy is a competitive runner, practices yoga and has a deep understanding of the elements that contribute to health and vitality.

Born and raised in a suburb of Syracuse, New York, Amy is a graduate of the Syracuse University S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Dianna J. Rienstra

Dianna J. Rienstra, CPA
Chief Financial Officer/Corporate Controller/Treasurer

Dianna Rienstra serves as Chief Financial Officer/Corporate Controller/Treasurer of the Friends Life Care System and its subsidiary corporations, including Friends Life Care and Intervention Associates. In this role, she oversees, coordinates and supervises all finance and technology needs for the organization.

Dianna joined Friends Life Care System in 2007, after a long, successful career in public accounting where her primary expertise was in the area of audit, tax and consulting services for not-for-profit organizations.

A graduate of Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, New Jersey, Dianna holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting, and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania. She is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).

As part of her health maintenance regimen, Dianna walks and cycles regularly.
